Abstract

The business of making compost at the Syariah Producer Cooperative, mandated by the Ulema MUI of North Sumatra, has been carried out since 2022. This cooperative has collaborated with the Medan City Zoo (KBM) management in processing organic waste into compost. Even though the composting business is still running, the partners are experiencing many obstacles and problems. The main problem is low compost production because it is still done traditionally. On the other hand, inorganic waste from Medan Zoo waste cannot be processed because it does not have good technology. Marketing problems are also things that partners cannot overcome. The primary solution that has been carried out is applying ALFIMER technology in processing organic and inorganic waste into compost. The application of ALFIMER TM Technology in its implementation uses bio-nanotechnology to convert waste, namely OneGEST (OG), which acts as a decomposer and enhancer of primary plant nutrients, which is very efficient for making compost. In this activity, cooperative members are trained to make compost and compound fertilizer. The application of this technology speeds up composting time from 4 weeks to 2 weeks. In this activity, compound fertilizers were applied on demonstration plots of corn plants to compare with the use of chemical fertilizers. Furthermore, the productivity of composting can be overcome by using a waste chopping machine to increase compost production by up to 100-200%.
